We are helping to shape the future of mobility

The future-oriented mobility industry is a key driver of innovation and a field of international growth for voestalpine. Whether for railwayautomotive, or aviation, with its pioneering innovations, voestalpine is a leading partner to the most demanding customers in the mobility segment.

Aerospace is also helping to shape tomorrow’s mobility

We are a leading supplier to the aircraft industry of forged parts and exceptionally durable components in special steel grades, titanium alloys, and aluminum. Aircraft components must withstand extreme pressure differences, low temperatures, enormous starting and landing forces. We use state-of-the-art processes to manufacture these components in high-load-bearing metal alloys, to ensure their operational reliability. We forge and strengthen these valuable materials using extremely heavy tools.

Virtually every aircraft flies with a piece of voestalpine

Our products are used in three essential areas of the aircraft: the fuselage, the engine, and the landing gear—from the seat tracks used to anchor the passenger seats in the cabin to the mounts that connect the wing to the engine. The parts are highly stressed, usually safety-critical components that have to withstand high temperatures, mechanical loads, or rotation.

  • Landing gear component: The high-alloy steels used in the landing gear have to absorb enormous impacts when the aircraft lands
  • Seat track: The seat track anchors the passenger seats
  • Engine disc: the engine disc holds the engine blades and rotates at high speed in the very hot exhaust gas stream
  • Pylon: The pylon connects the wing to the engine. It must withstand extreme mechanical loads
  • Tail: The tail connects the horizontal and vertical stabilizer to the passenger compartement
